Nuwara eliya


Nuwara Eliya is a mountain resort town in Sri Lanka. This city is blessed with a very charming climate, fabulous climate, awestruck views of valleys, meadows, mountains and lush greenery. Nuwara Eliya is famed as the city of lights. This tea capital of Sri Lanka is perched at an altitude of 1889 meters and is the most thronged after tourist destinations of Sri Lanka. Nuwara Eliya houses innumerable waterfalls and mountain scapes. Nuwara Eliya is also acclaimed as one of the favourite tourist destinations especially for its misty climate and glamorous scenic beauty.

Horton Plains:
The Horton Plains is the highest plateau land in the whole island of Sri Lanka. Th Horton plains also takes the credit of being a national park. This park is full of lush greenery and forests. While touring in the Horton plains one comes across enchanting and strange green world of wildlife and flora which captivates the tourists with its undying charm. There are a lot many endangered species of wildlife found in the Horton plain national park. The most prevalent ones are the Leopard, Sambhar and the most endemic purple faced Langur. The most thrilling sight in the Horton's Plain is the place famous to be the end of the world. The Horton's plain here drops off to a deadly height of 700 meters . This is a paradise for trekkers.


Hakgala Botanical Gardens
The Hakgala botanical garden had its inception in the year 1861. This garden takes its name from the Hakagala peak as this garden is located under its canopy. This botanical garden takes the credential of being the highest set Botanical gardens in the world at a height of 5000-6000 feet. Most revered trees found here are the English Oak, Japanese Cedars, Himalayan pines.

Gregory's Lake:
This lake takes its name from the British Governor Sir William Gregory who built it in the year 1873.

Laksapana Falls:
The Laksapana falls has its origination from the Laksapana estate. One has to camp down at the Upper Glencairn and Dick Oya to have an eyeful view of this waterfall.

Devon Falls:
The Devon falls is situated 6 Kms west of Thalawakelle. This fall allures visitors and tourists for its 97 meters steep elevation downwards.

Adam's Peak - The Pilgrim Path:
Adam's peak is very famous pilgrimage destination for people of all religions. The insciptions on the Adam's peak dates back to 1100 AD.

Victoria Park :
The Victoria park is located within the vicinity of the city of the Nuwara Eliya and is a true delight among birdwatchers and visitors who visit this park just to have a glimpse of the rare bird species.
